What to do when document processing fails

Status stuck on 'Failed'? Here's how to debug + retry without losing your project.

Documents move through Queued → Processing → Analyzing → Completed. A 'Failed' status means we hit an unrecoverable error.

Common causes

  • PDF is password-protected — strip the password and re-upload
  • PDF is corrupted (rare; usually means a flaky download) — re-export from your CAD/PDF tool
  • OCR couldn't extract any text and vision timed out — try splitting the file by sheet
  • Storage upload partially failed — re-upload from the project Documents tab

Retrying

  1. On the document detail, click 'Reprocess'.
  2. Watch the new processing job. If it fails again, capture the error message and contact support.
  3. Support escalation: include the document_id, the failed_task_log entry, and the error string.
